Our original plan for our Seaforth property 2 Reserve Street Seaforth was for it to be our dream home, but we decided to turn it into an investment property instead. We had never purchased an asset of this scale, and it all felt very daunting.
We weren’t getting enough support with looking after the property, and we had a lot of challenges around the quality of tenancy. We had consulted a few different agents, but we reached the point where we weren’t getting any traction. Then I met Hugo.

In preparation for the sale, we had butterflies. We had now become vendors, and Hugo was super comforting. He reassured me that they would take care of everything and guide us through the process. We were banking on their market knowledge and which direction we should go. The amount of strategy, marketing, and preparation they put into it was incredible. And their communication was top notch.
Our property still had tenants in it at the time, so Hugo and Lu put in a lot of effort for them not to be inconvenienced while also presenting the property in a super appealing way to the market. Lu has amazing interior styling – seeing our property when it was ready to present to potential buyers, we could not tell the house had tenants. The team at Etch would go in, bring the place up to scale, and then go back and reset it to a normal living environment.
They had this momentum where everything was just so precise, and we take inspiration from that in so many different ways. They timed it all so well, and at the end, they were able to say with confidence that we could relax, that we had put our best foot forward and that it was really only going to go one way.
It’s hard to architect the outcome to that precision. Yet, they managed it because of their incredible care, support and attention to detail. The result was better than expected, a sale price we hadn’t even considered. We weren’t chasing numbers, which gave them the flexibility to drive the figures. We wanted them to do that because, in the end, it led to them getting us a much better outcome.
The best part, we never felt like we were their clients. We felt like close friends. Which we still are, even after the sale of the property. They really do have a lasting effect.
