about Bellevue Hill

Bellevue Hill is a well-established suburb 5km east of the Sydney CBD in the Municipality of Woollahra local government area. Named by Governor Lachlan Macquarie for its beautiful view, Bellevue Hill has been home to several well-known Sydney families going back to the early 19th century, including the Fairfax Family, who inhabited Trahlee and the Fairfax House, currently owned by The Scots College.

Today, Bellevue Hill is home to nearly 11,000 people with a diverse range of residents from outside Australia. Largely a professional neighborhood, the suburb has some of the priciest homes in Australia including the $23 million paid for a Victoria Road mansion in 2009. Because of its rich history and affluent residents, Bellevue Hill is home to several buildings on the Register of the National Estate, including Rona, Ginahgulla, Rovello, and Caerleon.
